7 elective credits Montana Board of Realty Course # 09rr0113 Participants will have hands-on experience in: Collect field data using a GPS receiver that is provided Create tentative boundaries around features using waypoints and tracks Using free software to transfer GPS field data to laptop computers Transfer GPS data to Google Earth or ArcGIS Explorer, both free web viewers Transfer data back into a GPS unit or a Personal Navigation Device (PND) for sharing Creating boundaries and waypoint without actually going to features Navigate within boundaries using the GPS or PND Navigate to unknown locations using coordinates and GPS receivers
Equipment: Garmin GPS units will be provided, or participants may bring and use their own Garmin GPS receivers. Free software will be distributed for downloading and viewing data on Google Earth or ArcGIS Explorer. Participants are encouraged to bring their own laptops with a fully charged battery.
